Title 15, Chapter 9, Section 140
( 15-9-140)
Except as otherwise provided by law, any judge of a probate court is
authorized to serve as a judge of any other probate court in which
such judge would otherwise be qualified to serve, but only upon the
written request of the judge of such other probate court. When
serving in a probate court other than his or her own court, the
judge shall exercise the same jurisdiction, power, and authority as
the regular judge of the court. Judges rendering assistance in
accordance with this Code section shall be entitled to receive
actual expenses or, at such judge's option, the same per diem
expense authorized by law for members of the General Assembly and
shall receive mileage at the same rate as state employees for such
services but shall not be entitled to any further compensation for
such services. The governing authority responsible for funding the
operation of the requesting court shall bear the expenses of the
assisting judge. |
