(a) Any qualified interpreter or intermediary interpreter providing
service under this article shall be compensated by the agency, law
enforcement agency, or court requesting such service. Compensation
shall be as provided in the fee schedule developed by the
department. (b) The department shall develop a fee schedule to be used in
determining the compensation to be paid interpreters under this
article. The schedule shall include reasonable fees commensurate
with the services provided and shall include travel expenses and
subsistence allowances as are authorized for state employees. (c) The expenses of providing a qualified interpreter or
intermediary interpreter in any civil proceeding may be assessed by
the court or agency as costs in such proceeding. |
