Notwithstanding contrary provisions of this chapter, in any case in which the amount of funds to be received and collected by the probate judge exceeds $2,500.00, upon request of the next of kin or the guardian of the person of the minor or incapacitated adult, the funds shall be placed in a guardianship account or similar fiduciary arrangement authorized by law.
