As used in this article, the term: (1) "Direct supervision" means instruction and directions
requiring the physical presence of a licensed veterinarian on the
premises. (2) "Registered animal technician" means any person approved to
work as a registered animal technician by the State Board of
Veterinary Medicine under the former laws regulating animal health
technicians in the State of Georgia. (3) "Veterinary technician" means an individual who has received a
degree in animal technology or a comparable subject from an
approved school of veterinary medicine or veterinary technology
and who is employed by and under the direct supervision of a
licensed veterinarian to perform the following duties: (A) Obtain and record information about animal patients; (B) Prepare animal patients, instruments, equipment, and
medication for surgery; (C) Collect specimens and perform laboratory procedures; (D) Apply wound dressings; or (E) Assist a licensed veterinarian in diagnostic, medical, and
surgical procedures. |
