(a) The board shall hold at least one examination during each year and may hold such additional examinations as are necessary.

(b) After each examination, the division director shall notify each examinee of the results of his examination, and the board shall issue certificates of registration to the successful applicants. Any person failing an examination shall be admitted to any subsequent examination on payment of the examination fee.
