Title 44, Chapter 5, Section 149
( 44-5-149)
(a) There is created an advisory board to be known as the Advisory
Board on Anatomical Gift Procurement. The board shall be composed
of the following appointed persons: (1) The Governor shall appoint: (A) One representative of an eye bank; (B) One representative of a tissue bank; (C) One representative of a bone bank; (D) One representative of an organ procurement organization; (E) One representative of hospitals in this state; (F) One representative of the medical profession in this state; (G) One representative of the Department of Human Resources; (H) One representative of the Department of Community Health; (I) Reserved; and (J) One medical examiner; (2) The members specified in subparagraphs (A) through (J) of
paragraph (1) of this subsection shall appoint one consumer member
who has no professional connection with any entity specified in
subparagraphs (A) through (J) of paragraph (1) of this subsection; (3) The Speaker of the House of Representatives shall appoint
three members of the House of Representatives; and (4) The President of the Senate shall appoint three members of the
Senate. (b) Each person shall be appointed for a term of two years.
Legislative members shall be appointed for a term concurrent with a
term of office. (c) The advisory board shall select a chairman and such other
officers as it deems necessary and is empowered to make such rules
for governing of the affairs of the board as it deems appropriate.
The board shall meet on the call of the chairman. (d) The members of the board shall receive no compensation. Members
appointed under paragraphs (3) and (4) of subsection (a) of this
Code section shall receive the allowances authorized for legislative
members of interim legislative committees for each day of attendance
upon the business of the board. |
