Any member who was an employee of a state department, as reflected in the report of the state auditor, under Code Section 50-6-27, for the fiscal years ending June 30, 1967, or June 30, 1970, and who was a member of the General Assembly between January 1, 1954, and January 1, 1967, may receive membership service credit for service as a member of the General Assembly, upon payment to the retirement system of an amount equal to 6 percent of his annual base pay and allowances received during such period for services as a member of the General Assembly, provided that such payment is made by January 1, 1982; provided, further, that no more than one year of creditable service shall be allowed for all service in a calendar year. Upon payment of such contributions, such member shall be eligible for any prior service allowable under this chapter. The provisions of this Code section shall be applicable for the establishment of service credit under subsection (k) of Code Section 47-2-244. |
