There is created the Georgia Silver-Haired Legislature. Its members
shall be of age 60 or over and shall be duly selected pursuant to
procedures developed by the department, the office of the Secretary
of State, and the Silver-Haired Legislature in coordination with the
state's network of aging programs. The Silver-Haired Legislature is
authorized to meet every other year at the state capitol at an
appropriate time prior to the convening of the General Assembly.
The Silver-Haired Legislature is authorized, within its budgetary
limitations, to hire personnel, to solicit private financial
support, and to adopt bylaws to govern its internal procedures, and
such body is authorized to adopt such measures as it deems
appropriate to present to the General Assembly for consideration. |
