Definitions for "serious injury" in Georgia State Code

(4) "Serious injury" means an injury involving a broken bone, the
loss of a member of the body, the loss of use of a member of the
body, or the substantial disfigurement of the body or of a member
of the body or an injury which is life threatening. "serious injury" means bodily harm capable of being perceived by a
person other than the victim and may include, but is not limited
to, substantially blackened eyes, substantially swollen lips or
other facial or body parts, substantial bruises to body parts,
